Crack the Code of Creativity with the Codex Master Class!
This year's Master Class is an adventure in to the curious and captivating realm of codices. As we explore these mysterious manuscripts which are the spring board for this year's master class designs, we will learn how to be curious, how to be inspired and how to be creatively unique.

Included in this workshop are the kits for six master class exclusive projects, a master class exclusive book, eight weeks of videos for your permanent collection and weekly zoom office hours as well as the opportunity to join a Codex Master Class Facebook group.

The workshop is in video format, so while these videos are released weekly, you are free to work at your own pace. Videos do not expire. This time around I have also included a 2 week long "Winter Break" in the middle of the workshop to allow some time to catch up or just take a breather.

Workshop will begin December 1st, 2024 (to allow time for kit boxes to arrive).

What's included in the price:
Everything! Eight weeks of video workshops accompanied by detailed, full color, step-by-step instructions bound in a workshop exclusive book and bead kits to make each of the projects featured in the workshop. There will be weekly office hours you are invited to attend and the opportunity to connect with other Master Class students through the Codex Facebook group.

Each week a new video will become available which coordinates with the printed instructions. You will be able to add this video to your Vimeo library for personal reference in the future.

Here's the syllabus:

Week 1: Curiosity and Inspiration
Week one is a conceptual week in which we will focus on sources of inspiration and the importance of curiosity in pursuing and producing art. There will be no beaded projects this week but rather a journey into both the cerebral and emotional corners of the mind.

After week 1, there will be a 1-hour zoom session to discuss curiosity and inspiration.

Week 2: Medieval Mystery Necklace
In week two we will start to apply our curious thinking to creative beading as we create a necklace inspired by the mysterious and captivating Voynich manuscript.

Week 3: Sculpture Serafinianus
In week three we will consider the all-important role that patience plays in the game of creativity. If you can learn to embrace time rather than push against it, you will find that magically you are able to stop time and exist in a realm of creative thought and action.

Week 4: Book of Kells Bracelet
In week four we will talk about the way particular techniques are appropriate for certain projects. We will consider what works for different types of beaded designs and discuss how these techniques are selected and ways in which you can creatively combine techniques.

"Winter Break!"
We'll take a two week hiatus at this point in the class to allow a break and an opportunity to catch up. I'll continue to offer office hours during this time but for two weeks, I won't be releasing new videos.

Week 5: Aztec Codex Sculpture
In week five we will explore the endless possibilities for sources of inspiration that can be found in other cultures and other times. Harnessing the aesthetics of different places, times and people can help inspire our own creative thought.

Week 6: Necklace Seraphinianus
In week six we will discuss and embrace the concept that trial and error are bit a waste of time in the design process. It is instead an opportunity to hone our skills and advance our knowledge of the materials we use.

Week 7: Voynich Botanical Sculpture
In week seven we will explore the idea of applying your own unique perspective and experiences to the creative forces that inspire you. It is from this crossroads of personal uniqueness and applied inspiration that you move forward as an artistically minded person with your own vision.

Week 8: Creativity, Ideas and Future Designing
This week we will explore and discuss creativity and the creative process in greater depth. We will consider how the projects and keys presented each week add up to a creative mindset and an inspirational space to work in.

After week 8, there will be a 1 hour zoom session to discuss creativity.

This workshop is set for a designated ten weeks (8 weeks of video with a 2 week break midway through). As videos become available at the beginning of each week, students can add these videos to their permanent Vimeo library for future personal reference. The beauty of video it that it can be watched at the student's convenience and re-watched as many time as necessary to review any of the steps of the process.
